Joseph Emmanuel “Joem” Bascon, more popularly known as Joem Bascon was born on August 29, 1986 in Manila, Philippines. He is a Filipino actor and model.
He graduated from high school at Don Bosco Technical College in Mandaluyong City, an exclusive school for boys. He served as a basketball varsity player then. After graduating from high school on 2003, he went to University of Santo Tomas to take up Electrical Engineering but was not able to finish it.
Joem is currently under ABS CBN’s talent management arm, named Star Magic. He was introduced into showbiz via ABS-CBN’s teen-oriented sitcom, “Let’s Go” where he played the role of “Bob”. Since then he has been getting praises for his comedic talent and amazing registry on screen.
Thus, when said sitcom folded up and a replacement sitcom got in the works, his character was carried over into the revamped version of “Let’s Go” entitled “GoKada” where he got to star with other male heartthrobs Gerald Anderson and Matteo Guidicelli.
Joem was discovered accidentally by director Jerry L. Sineneng, when his family home in Antipolo was used as the location for the primetime soap Hiram.
Although the Bascon family lives in Mandaluyong City, they also have a home in Antipolo City, and when he was spotted by someone from ABS-CBN, Joem decided to give up on his original dream of playing competitive basketball and pursue a showbiz career.
He burst into entertainment scene because of his supposed resemblance to entertainers Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby. However, he has since tried to create his own image.
“To be compared with Piolo and Sam is really flattering especially when I was just starting, but I want now to be known as myself, as Joem Bascon, to finally have my own identity.”
